Tomato and Oatmeal Face Mask

What if I told you that you could make a homemade face mask using the oatmeal in your cereal bowl?  Okay maybe not the exact bowl that you are munching on right now but it is possible to use oatmeal to create your very own oatmeal face mask.

Oatmeal is good for your skin as it contains avenanthramides, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds. These fancy sounding words help to soothe itchy, dry and irritated skin. Moreover it is also good for acne prone skin because oatmeal absorbs oil from the skin’s surface.

Now onto the tomato. Tomato is a good oil absorbent and helps to reduce tan. Furthermore the acidity in tomatoes helps in reducing and clearing up acne. Next time you use your acne medication have a look at the vitamins in them. Nearly all of them will have Vitamin A and Vitamin C and guess what, tomatoes are rich in both and add and extra dose of Vitamin K as well.

Vitamin A and vitamin C are commonly found in a lot of acne medicines and tomatoes are rich in vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin K.

Ingredients

Preparation

This is one of the easier diy face masks that you will end up making. Trust me you can mess this up!

First off, you need to make tomato puree by placing the small tomato in a blender. Once that is done, transfer the puree into a bowl and add 2 tablepsoons of oatmeal. Mix the two ingredients well ensuring that there are no clumps (you don’t want to look like an extra from the Dawn of the Dead movies)

That’s pretty much it, your oatmeal face mask with tomato is ready. The next step is to gently massage the mask on your face leaving out the eyes. After 10 – 15 minutes simply rinse out the mixture using  warm water.
