More importantly it is a low maintenance scrub that works just as well as the store products or the stuff they use at spas. So you end up saving tons of money and the scrub helps to fill the bathroom with a delicious scent.
As with all DIY face mask posts, here are the benefits of using brown sugar –
Salt scrubs are all the rage these days but did you know that they can sometimes prove to be dangerous to your skin as the size of the grain can cause microscopic tears. Brown sugar particles are smaller and gentler and therefore safer for the skin. As a result brown sugar can be used a diy face mask especially when you have sensitive skin. At the same time, it is still strong enough to scrub away dead skin cells creating a healthier, glowing skin
2.Alpha hydroxyl Acids
Brown sugar also contains an alpha hydroxl acid by the name of Glycolic Acid. Glycolic acid helps to fight bacteria and keeps your skin vivacious and healthy. It does this by breaking down glue-bonded skin cells which support cell turnover as well protecting the skin from sun damage and providing support to ageing skin
Do you ever get the feeling that scrubs that you buy from the store end up leaving your skin feeling super dry and dull. Brown sugar is what is described as a natural humectant. Humectant is described as a substance be it a skin lotion or food additive that helps to reduce the loss of moisture.
Brown sugar absorbs the moisture from the air and deposits it into your skin. It provides a further function of keeping the moisture locked in and guards your skin from destructive toxins. All in all, it keeps your skin looking hydrated, fresh and nourished.
Place the ingredients in a bowl an mix them well. The two when combined will create an easy scrub which you then need to apply to your face. Remember this is a scrub and not a face mask per say so you need to be gentle with your skin. For this diy face mask / scrub it is recommended to use circular motions that will allow the dead skin to peel off.
Leave it on for a few minutes and wash it off with warm water. As always make sure you have prepped your skin before applying the face mask.
