January Kristen Jones is an American actress best known for her role as Betty Draper in the television series Mad Men. For her portrayal of Betty Draper, she received two Global Globe nominations and one Emmy nomination.
Before becoming a Hollywood bombshell, Jones had supporting roles in Anger Management, Love Actually and Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights. A couple of years later she appeared in the film The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada. The film was directed by Tommy Lee Jones and had Jones playing a U.S border guard’s wife. She also played the role of Cadence Flaherty, the love interest of both Steve Stifler and Paul Finch in the 2003 comedy American Wedding.
This was followed by roles in We Are Marshall and Good Kill. The later one saw her starring opposite to Ethan Hawke.
With her movie somewhat stalling, she decided to take on the role of Betty Draper in the AMC original television drama series Mad Men. She played the part of the conflicted house wife for seven seasons garnering praise from her peers, critics and fans.
Not content with the success of Mad Men she branched out into other television shows appearing as a con artist in the Law & Order episode “Quit Claim”. The con artist was the lone surviving suspect connected to a real estate scam. The scam involved members of the organised crime and her character in particular created roadblocks to the efforts of Assistant District Attorney Michael Cutter.
Moving away from movies and television, January Jones also became known for her good looks and was ranked no.82 on the Maxim Hot 100 Women of 2002. This was followed by appearances in the ‘Hot Issue’ of British GQ magazine in May 2009 and the cover of the American GQ magazine in the same year.
2011 was a busy year for Jones as she starred in ‘Unknown’ alongside Liam Neeson and Diane Kruger and then alongside Nicholas Cage and Guy Pearce in ‘Seeking Justice’. Clearly aware of the popularity of the super hero movies, she also portrayed Emma Frost in X Men : First Class directed by Mathew Vaughn.
